About Us

Mike Travis

Mike Travis founded Upper Bay Taxidermy over a decade ago. He has worked over 35 years as a full time taxidermist. Well into his third decade as a professional taxidermist, Mike brings an enormous amount of experience, knowledge, and creativity to work every day. His goal with each project is to produce some of the finest taxidermy available anywhere.

A widely respected and talented taxidermist, he has mounted big game from every continent in the world, for discriminating hunters from across the country. Having personally mounted over 130 species of big game from all corners of the globe, there are few projects he hasn't tackled. An expert at anatomy, Mike routinely alters and sculpts manikins for fit or position, making each mount a custom piece of art. Mike is an avid outdoorsman and student of nature, and is intimately familiar with the habits and traits of the many birds and animals he mounts.

Joe Travis

Joe Travis has over 10 years experience in the taxidermy industry.

His beginnings in the art go back much further than the time he’s been employed full time in the business - he grew up in and around the taxidermy trade, hanging out in the studio from a toddler on. His love of the outdoors and his fascination with the natural world, coupled with his artistic abilities, are the perfect blend for a taxidermist. His artistic eye and knowledge of the animal world complement each other and show in his work.

Mike and Joe take great pride in customer relations, working with each client on a personal level. You are far more than just a name and number entered in the system here. In short, their objective is to build a quality, interactive relationship with Upper Bay Taxidermy’s customers and produce awesome mounts that will be treasured for decades to come.

Both Mike and Joe are proud to have had the opportunity to serve their country. They each served in the United States Army.
